Castaways and magic! Our musical version of Shakespeare’s classic tale, written specifically for KS2 Primary children to perform.

Opening with a dramatic shipwreck, the story is set on Prospero’s island, where he lives with his daughter Miranda.

But Prospero, a powerful magician, is really the outcast Duke of Milan, and he is plotting revenge on his evil brother…

Also wandering the isle are the rebellious slave Caliban and the loyal sprite Ariel; a group of shipwrecked noblemen; two hilarious bungling servants; handsome Prince Ferdinand; and the Spirits, always ready to sing a song or tell a story, or laugh at the soppy lovers.

Much of the play is in modern English, but with plenty of the original text, so that your cast can experience Shakespeare’s wonderful language. We have made sure there’s plenty for everyone to do, by creating the Spirits, who share the load of dialogue with Ariel and Prospero.

With 7 memorable songs and an accessible, funny script, this makes a brilliant introduction to Shakespeare.
